In July of 2017, when Tori was only 9-years-old, she was hospitalized due to extreme fatigue and swelling in her face. Tori was immediately sent to the hospital where they discovered her alarmingly high blood pressure results and decided to do blood work. When the results came back, it showed that her kidneys were not functioning properly and at her young age, Tori was suffering from kidney failure. Tori was placed on hemodialysis and spent one month in the hospital. After the month passed and Tori was released from the hospital, she started peritoneal dialysis from home. Tori had treatment 7 days a week, for 10 hours a day. In March of 2018, Tori had a kidney transplant. Tori is now 10-years-old and is currently doing extremely well. Tori is described as a loving little girl who is not shy to showing affection. “She has the biggest heart ever,” said Jonathan, Tori’s dad. Tori is an incredibly creative spirit and loves doing arts and crafts and drawing. She also loves animals and has three dogs named Rasco, Pepper, and Princess. Her favorite music artist is Michael Jackson and her current favorite movie is Princess and the Frog. When asked to comment on his daughter’s journey, Jonathan referred to a quote from the author Susan Gale: “Sometimes you don’t realize your own strength until you come face to face with your greatest weakness.” Tori’s wish experience will give her the opportunity to forget about her diagnosis and focus on being a kid again. “This wish experience will mean the world to Tori. Being able to travel to a new place and experience new things with her family will give her so much joy. She is very excited about becoming the Queen of Florida and to swim with dolphins,” said Jonathan. Thank you for partnering with Make-A-Wish to support Tori and other wish kids like her by granting them their one-true wish.
Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
